Grove School Share Project with Stoke City

Year 9 students from Grove School in Market Drayton, concluded their Business Enterprise project with Championship football side Stoke City by visiting their stadium recently.

The students have worked exceptionally hard for around 12 weeks learning about how businesses operate, exploring employer opportunities, alongside new products and reviewing how to advertise them effectively.

During the scheme, the students have earned ‘Stoke City dollars’ and the winners with the most dollars at the end of the scheme won two tickets to the Stoke City Championship game against league-leaders Leeds United on 19^th January.

The scheme concluded with a tour of the Bet365 Stadium, an awards ceremony and a game of football. Whilst they were at the stadium, students were very fortunate to experience the set up for a live press conference thanks to the appointment of a new first-team manager, Nathan Jones, which was exciting to witness and watch.

Miss Kellie Williams, the School Link for the project at Grove School, commented: “This was an excellent opportunity for our students to gain a first-hand knowledge of how the business world works and they have learned so much in a short space of time. By seeing a local and national company in Stoke City Football Club, which is a business they can relate to, the project has been highly beneficial for the students. We would like to thank Stoke City for their support in running this project and wish them well for the rest of the season and beyond.”
