Home Learning at The Grove School 

Home Learning, also known as homework, refers to tasks that are set by teachers to be completed outside of usual lessons. Home learning activities vary significantly, particularly between younger and older students, but not limited to home reading activities, longer projects or essays and more directed and focused work, such as revision for tests.  This includes attending homework clubs and undertaking ‘flipped learning’, which includes preparing for class discussion and application tasks. Common home learning tasks include: 

• Completing tasks assigned in lessons. 

• Preparing for tasks in future lessons. 

• Routine coursework/NEA tasks. 

• Wider reading to extend student knowledge and understanding. 

• Revision for tests and examinations. 

• Consolidation and extension tasks 

• Watching thematically linked YouTube videos or listening to podcasts 

• Completing virtual resources such as SPARX and Bedrock to develop numeracy and literacy skills.
